Ranunculus take their name from rana the latin for frog probably because of their liking for damp conditions. Distinct from the common buttercup, which can be a nuisance in lawns. 'Citrinus' has very pale sulphur-yellow flowers. These are held on thin stems which appear almost invisible. The foliage is finely cut with bold markings. It will thrive on most soils provided there is plenty of moisture. It makes a good planting partner for strongly coloured perennials and bog garden plants.
