There are about 200 different species of prunus, ranging from large evergreen trees to small deciduous shrubs. P. serrula is one of the best trees for a small garden. It forms a rounded shape with dark green leaves that turn yellow or red in autumn. Its main feature is its bark, which is a wonderful, glossy coppery-red. Its spring flowers are small and white and it bears tiny fruits in autumn.
