This tough, easy to grow rose will reliably put on a good show of pink, scented blooms, followed by bright scarlet hips even when neglected. Its dense, vigorous growth and prickly stems make it perfect for hedging. As a shrub rose, it is best pruned in late summer, after flowering has finished. Prune most stems lightly. To encourage young, vigorous growth, cut back a few of the oldest stems each year.
