Bulb is a generic term for a range of different types of underground storage organ that include true bulbs, corms, and rhizomes. They come up, do their thing and die back - but remember, don't chop off the leaves!

 Description:
Produce wineglass-shaped flowers on a stem that rises above the leaves. Tulips are available in a huge range of different colours. Prefers a spot in full sun.

 Description:
The harbingers of spring. Snowdrops have graceful hanging flowers that appear on a slender stem. The three large outer petals and three smaller inner ones form an upside down cup that is marked with green.

Grown for their cheery looking, wine goblet shaped flowers. Crocus look fantastic grown in beds, lawns, or containers. The spice saffron comes from an autumn flowering crocus. Most prefer a sunny spot.

 Description:
There are many different dahlias, but all are very showy flowerers. Often large flowers born on top of upright stems. Best in a sunny spot, dahlias need supporting, and the tubers must be dug up before the frost and stored indoors over winter.

 Description:
Bulbous irises are easy to grow in sunny well-drained soil. They have arching lance-shaped leaves, with flowers appearing on long, branching stems. Prefer slightly alkaline soil, but will grow in acidic conditions.
