Good Boy Bad Boy (2007)
PGContains mild violence, language and sex references

College comedies have never fared well in Bollywood, so it's a mystery why director Ashwini Choudhary would want to make Good Boy Bad Boy. Casting B-grade heroes Emraan Hashmi and Tusshar Kapoor as two students who wreak havoc when their identities are switched, this pointless campus caper scores C minus for effort and originality. Presumably aimed at Indian teenagers or those of low IQ, its flimsy attempt at entertainment misses the grade.

While bookworm Rajan (Kapoor) is forever lost in studies, Raju (Hashimi) dedicates his time to playing pranks and frolicing with girls. But when their principal (Paresh Rawal) undertakes a social experiment by grouping students according to their test results, the duo are accidentally placed in the wrong classes. No prizes for guessing the whole college plays along with the gag until the boys have to take part in an inter-college competition where everyone's reputation is at stake.

"LACKLUSTRE JOKES"

Although Emraan and Tusshar have a flair for comedy, neither actor is given the chance to show off their skills, thanks to the lacklustre jokes on offer. Instead the pair, both of whom seem a tad old to be playing college dudes, are forced to play out predictable scenarios. Obvious examples include Rajan being seduced by the college tart (Tanushraa Dutta) in a 'strip study session', and lothario Raju wooing the principal's prim daughter (Isha Sharvani) by quoting Karl Marx. Despite the potential scope for entertainment, Choudhary's childish farce deserves to be sent to the back of the class.

In Hindi with English subtitles.
