After director Bunty Soorma's unexpected death, Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai was handed over to Vikram Bhatt to complete as a tribute to his close friend. Taking on someone else's vision can't have been easy, and Bhatt should be commended for seeing the project through to the big screen despite significant production delays. But sadly this love triangle starring Bobby Deol, Arjun Rampal and Amisha Patel will have you weeping tears of joy, sadness and frustration all at the same time.

Blind village belle Durga (Patel) scrapes a living by making clay statues. Impressed by her art and beauty, Rohit (Rampal) falls in love and sets about helping correct Durga's disability. But fate deals a cruel blow when he is killed in a fight with a local goon just before Durga's sight is restored. To aid her recovery from the terrible loss Durga's doctor generously takes her to Switzerland, where rich guy Raj (Deol) also falls for her charms. If you think that's far fetched, wait for the obvious return of Rohit, who is alive and well and, surprise surprise, happens to be Raj's childhood friend. Cue buckets of inner turmoil and emotional tugs of war.

"IN NO WAY ORIGINAL OR INTERESTING"

Although Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai delivers what you expect from a traditional Bollywood entertainer - colourful songs, picturesque locales and a clich茅d ending - it's in no way original or interesting enough to hold attention. Its old-world charm may have worked back in the 70s and 80s when Hindi film audiences didn't mind suspending belief, but today they demand more realism in their storylines. Ashok Roy's deficient screenplay lies at the root, and not even the good-looking cast can make you fall for this poor excuse of a love story.
