Since launching her cinema career with a "starkers by the pool" bit part in 1996's Stealing Beauty (her words, not ours), Brit actress Rachel Weisz has seen her fair share of ups and downs. There have been unsucessful Brit efforts (The Land Girls, My Summer With Dez), misfiring European adventures (Enemy At The Gates) and not one, but two lamentably weak actioners opposite Keanu Reeves (Chain Reaction and Constantine). But it was her plucky, oh-so-English turn in The Mummy and its sequel that made Hollywood sit up and notice. And after affecting and sexy turns in About A Boy and Confidence, she's back with unquestionably her best performance yet as the headstrong aid worker and murdered wife of Ralph Fiennes' diplomat in Fernando Meirelles' The Constant Gardener.
