Anyone remember my review of the 2001 Paramount DVD release of "Life of Brian"? Hopefully, you read it before deciding whether or not to buy the disc. If you held off, clever you, as you can now enjoy this vastly superior DVD from Columbia Tristar.
Technical Features:
Picture Appallingly grainy on first release, this new DVD has only mild grain. Colours are stronger and detail higher.
Sound A new 5.1 sound mix is on offer, and while a little thin, it works well between the front speakers.
Special Features:
The Pythons If you're new to Monty Python, this 50-minute documentary will set you straight with how it all began. Made in 1979, it's a bit on the dry side, but there are plenty of clips from sketches and Python movies made over the ten years up until that point.
There's a healthy glut of behind-the-scenes footage of "Life of Brian", interspersed with silly interviews and fun gags. This is peppered with the odd moment of seriousness as each Python tries to explain how they create their insanity.
