There are eight deleted scenes on the "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones" DVD, but fans should be prepared for the fact that these are not as good as the material included on the "Episode I" disc.
The longest scene runs at two minutes 13 seconds, and all have mainly been removed for timing purposes. As Lucas uses such a thorough pre-visualisation process, it's not surprising that there's little need to chop much out of the film. All the scenes come with an optional introduction.
Title: Padme Addresses the Senate
Run Time: 1:49 mins
The Scene: Padme pleads with the Senate not to raise an army. It's nice to look at, but none too passionate.
The Lucas Verdict: "We had a film far too long... it was the first to go."
Title: Jedi Temple Analysis Room
Run Time: 1.01mins
The Scene: Obi-Wan gets some droids that look like the robot out of "Short Circuit" to check out some evidence on his hunt to reveal the identity of the assassin. The droids are fun to watch, but editor Ben Burtt sums it up well as to why it doesn't work: "At the beginning of the scene, we don't know anything, and at the end of the scene Obi-Wan doesn't know anything."
The Lucas Verdict: "When we looked at the movie all cut together, it seemed like we were going back in another direction."
Title: Obi-Wan and Mace - Jedi Landing Platform
Run Time: 1.47mins
The Scene: Mace says some wise things and Obi-Wan gets into his Starfighter and buggers off to run a Jedi errand.
The Lucas Verdict: "I realised I needed to add different dialogue to make it a different scene, and put Yoda in."
Title: Extended Arrival on Naboo
Run Time: 1.47mins
The Scene: This is an extended cut of Anakin and Padme arriving on Naboo. It's pretty stuff, but slow to watch.
The Lucas Verdict: "It had a nice grand location, but ultimately it didn't move the plot along."
Title: Padme's Parents' House
Run Time: 2.13mins
The Scene: Anakin gets invited to meet the parents over dinner. He looks like a lovesick puppy, while she tries to pretend that she doesn't fancy him with that dodgy hair extension. It's a little cheesy, but undeniably sweet, too.
The Lucas Verdict: "The scene in the parents' house was very hard to cut because I really liked that scene."
Title: Padme's Bedroom
Run Time: 1.16mins
The Scene: Alrighty! The naughty stuff they couldn't show you... or just Anakin looking lovesick, this time in Padme's bedroom while she packs clothes? You pick which one you think is on the disc - just remember that it's got a PG certificate.
The Lucas Verdict: "It's emotionally touching, it gives her [Padme] a lot of character, but ultimately in the story it wasn't necessary."
Title: Dooku Interrogates Padme
Run Time: 0.59mins
The Scene: With laser whips and bondage gear, you ask? No, this is just a chat across a really, really big table. As interrogations go, this is weak stuff.
The Lucas Verdict: "The movie needed to pick up speed when Anakin and Padme landed on Geonosis."
Title: Anakin and Padme on Trial
Run Time: 0.37mins
The Scene: Does like it says in the title - an irrelevant aside.
The Lucas Verdict: "When the conversation scene with Dooku went, the trial automatically went out too."
