With the pall of 'flop' hanging over "Town & Country", it does lower expectations to the point where the actual result is not quite as awful as you might expect. It certainly helps when you get to watch it on a technically pleasing DVD.
Technical Features:
Picture There is a slight softness to the image quality, but it's sure money that it's intentional. With the average age of the stars being, well, not teenage, we can assume that it's to help smooth out those wrinkles. There's certainly nothing wrong with the transfer.
Sound This is hardly a 5.1 mix for big effects, but it does an excellent job of recreating the 'town' and 'country' settings of the movie through pleasing atmospheric effects.
Special Features:
Or perhaps not so special. There is a trailer in 5.1 (a rarity), plus cast and crew biographies. Presumably no one wanted to contribute to this DVD, which is a shame because there must be quite a story to tell. Never mind, you can make your very own special feature by wondering just how they managed to spend $80 million on this movie.
