听 It's safe to say that almost any professional DVD release of "The Living Dead at the Manchester Morgue" (aka "Let Sleeping Corpses Lie") would be better than the awful pirate videotapes available of this zombie shocker. But as one has come to expect from Anchor Bay, this DVD release is quite a revelation.
TECHNICAL FEATURES
Picture The picture quality is at times very fresh. The colours of the English countryside are vivid and rich. The image is a little soft and slightly grainy at times, but this should nevertheless exceed any fan's wildest expectations.
Sound The same can be said for the 5.1 sound mix, which is cleverly directed to maximise creepy atmosphere. Horrible breathing fills the speakers around you, while a low sonic heartbeat dominates the sub woofer to unsettling effect.
SPECIAL FEATURES
Made specially for this disc is a brand new 20-minute interview with director Jorge Grau. He covers a lot in a short time, including the characterisation, the effects, and the British press' hostile reaction at the time. The interview is interspersed with plenty of stills and behind-the-scenes photos.
More stills and poster work can be found in an additional gallery on the DVD. A TV advert and radio spot for the original US release of the film are also included on what is a prize addition to any serious zombie film collection on DVD.
