If this review was written in direct relation to the number of features available on the DVD, it would have already have finished. If that smacks of unnecessary sarcasm then please consider the DVD cover insert requesting that you 'Access Pulp Fiction's special features by pressing the menu key'. Follow said instruction and you're rewarded with 'scene selection'. Now who deserves that?
At least "Pulp Fiction" made it onto the disc and there's no denying that it looks superb. Quentin Tarantino makes good looking films that derive glamour from the unlikeliest of settings. The transfer to DVD captures this beautifully with a vivid and clear image.
The 5.1 sound mix is surprisingly uneventful given some of the commotion that goes on in the movie. The music and dialogue balance out well but there's not much in the way of effects and the rears have relatively little to do.
This is certainly a movie to own on DVD. But with better compression techniques now available, a 'special edition' release will surely come along with the types of extra features that fans of the movie will crave.
