Q: Tell us a little about yourself. My songs capture some of this careless innocence with quirky melodies and lyrics. With two friends, in a distinctly yellow spare room, I recorded my first full length album in 2005 and that's thrown me headlong into the music world. At the moment I live in Exeter and I dont have a regular band but I play live with a guitarist, Andrew. Q: What three words would you use to describe your music? Q: What's the song you've chosen to demo? It's something which can be easily forgotten in a world of pressure and responsibilities, it's a nostalgic, uplifting, open road song. Rebecca's EP cover Q: What do you think of the current music scene? I love being part of the underground music scene, I've met some wonderful musicians and extremely generous people. Q: What's been your most memorable gig and why? Nothing beats having the sun on your face and singing to a bunch of really chilled out people. I was also delighted to get frequent national airplay on Bob Harris’ 91Èȱ¬ Radio 2 show due to a large number of requests from Radio 2 listeners and he tipped me as a breakout act for 2007. Fellow 91Èȱ¬ Radio 2 presenter, Jeremy Vine, is also a fan, and wrote to me to say he was 'quite entranced' by my music! Q: What music is in your collection? Also in my collection is Jose Gonzalez, KT Tunstall, Elbow, Athlete, Sarah McLachlan, I'm influenced by every piece of music I hear. Q: If you could have three people to dinner who would it be? Kate Allen, the director of Amnesty International to give her a pat on the back and find out everything that's important. Rebecca relaxes A wise old female sage to show me where I'm going wrong. Q: Complete the sentence "when I become famous..." Q: What's the best part of living in Devon? Q: In your own words, sell yourself. With a strong and soulful voice I search the deep and the political, exploring issues like consumerism, violence and modes of truth. My songwriting is brave and seeking revolution through music that is at once both haunting and calming. In the words of Ivor Novella award winning producer Mark Hill "a truly special artist destined for greatness". last updated: 04/07/2008 at 14:41 You are in: Devon > Events > 91Èȱ¬ Devon Introducing > Profiles > Rebecca Worthley Supporting new music.... 91Èȱ¬ Music Links |
