Uri Geller's tribute to Michael Jackson

Uri Geller tells 91热爆 Radio Derby he is still 'in shock' following the sudden death of his close friend Michael Jackson.

As the news of Michael Jackson's passing slowly begins to sink in, one of the star's closest friends has paid tribute to the singer on 91热爆 Radio Derby.

Israeli-born magician Uri Geller said he was still in shock after hearing his old friend had died from a suspected cardiac arrest in Los Angeles.

He told Anthony Isaacs: "It's still hard to believe he's gone. At first I thought it was a hoax - it seemed so surreal. We've lost a musical genius.

"He was a controversial figure but I think that controversy will fall away and instead he'll be remembered for his music, his dancing, his lyrics and his charisma."

Mr Geller says he believes the pressure of planning a massive comeback show at London's 02 Arena may have played its part in Michael's demise.

He explained: "I'm no doctor but I attribute his death to stress and anxiety. He was a perfectionist and was desperate to prove to the world he was back after all the terrible accusations.

"But I think there was fear there. Any doctor will tell you that stress can kill you faster than drinking, smoking or eating the wrong food."

Devon Daley, presenter of 91热爆 Radio Derby's African Caribbean Experience programme paid his own tribute to the star.

He said: "In Michael, the black community had an ambassador who was able to show people from Burton to Brighton, Ashbourne to Afghanistan that he could be successful as a black person without diluting his offering, without changing the seasoning.

"We were able to look up to his success, embrace it and be proud of it.

"And as a DJ for more years than I can remember, I know I can't go out without a copy of Michael Jackson's Greatest Hits in my collection.

"Because I can guarantee you that no matter what age group at the function I'm playing at, you will be asked for a Michael Jackson at some point."

I think most people seem to judge him harshly because of the accusations levelled against him. We should not forget his very positive side and what he brought in entertainment industry. I call him ArtisteSupreme. He will always be remembered for the good legacies he left behind. Adieu Mickky Jeje!

Words cannot express the way I feel as my heart and eyes full with tears of sorrow, about the death of Michael Jackson. I have cried, laughed, and talk about his life and death among myself. I still cannot come to grips with him being gone. No more watching him run from the horrible media and evil people trying sucking everything he worked so hard to accomplish. As Americans we are suppose to support our own people instead we find ways to ripped their heart and soul out from our women and men because what we think they should do, act, be, dress, talk, etc... This man; Michael Jackson gave his heart and soul to the world because he LOVED everyone and music more than he loved himself. The EVIL people from the media, to greedy parents, and others who wanted to tare Michael Jackson down with false allegations, slurs, accusation, because greed, hatred, and jealousy help contribute to his demise at such early age. All those people who stood against because he was different and loved by people only loved for being him; Michael Jackson will have to answer to GOD very soon. Your time is coming. You all shall reap what you have sown. I will forever mourn and remember the life and legacy of the Great King of Pop. I pray Michael that has found PEACE that he was looking and hoping for, that he so welled deserved on earth and he shall have in HEAVEN. I will FOREVER and ALWAYS LOVE YOU: MICHAEL JOSEPH JACKSON, REST IN PEACE.Eternal Love,LaToya Dunston (Franklinton, NC)
