Try a simple experiment. Ask anyone to describe an episode of Bagpuss and it will almost always be "turning breadcrumbs and butterbeans into chocolate digestives". Why?

I have been totally beside myself after the explosion of Bagpuss back on the scene. I recently treated myself to a handmade bagpuss and have brought everything to do with the saggy old cloth cat. I'm glad that he has returned with so many collectable items. I love Bappuss cos he was so gentle and kind and Emily loved him. Ahhhhhhhhh ...

Bagpuss was not voted the number one children's tv programme of all time for no reason, the characters are as memorable now as the first time I watched them - not bad for a sad saggy old cloth cat.

Is it just me, or is there something very moving about the sequence at the end when the narrator describes all the animals turning back to objects?

Those mice off of Bagpuss used to scare the hell outta me...With their mad staring eyes, and their helpful ways. "We will fix it" they used to sing... I was terrified they would come into my room at night and "Fix" me! Did anyone else find Bagpuss and his chums scary, or am I the only one...?
Great Big Thanks! to all of those who contributed.
