The Perranporth Surf Challenge triathlon encompasses a tough 800m surf swim, a gruelling 35 km hill cycle and finishes with a 7.5km beach and cliff run. Last year's individual times to beat are Matt Pullen's 01:51:56 and women's race winner Sam Herridge's 02:05:46, whilst the Cycle Logic team won the group event. Perranporth by Andre Horvath The event is being hosted by the Perranporth Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC). Peter Barker, UK General Manager at Thule who sponsor the event says: "The triathlon promises to be challenging for competitors and is a huge draw for both local spectators and visitors to the area." Chris Strickland, original founder of the Perranporth Surf Challenge Triathlon says: "Last year's event proved to be a great success, with huge support from both sponsors and the triathlon community, and the fantastic weather. As the event enters its 22nd year, we look forward to seeing familiar faces amongst local competitors as well as nationally based athletes taking part." The Perranporth Surf Challenge Triathlon starts at 10 am on Sunday 20th September, with Junior Surf challenge events taking place on Saturday 19 September.
