He flew straight to the competition from Japan, without his surfboards, but still managed to make it to the finals for the second time in his career. Four British surfers flew out to Costa Rica for the World Surfing Games which was held between 31st July and 8th August 2009. The International Surfing Association says Ben Skinner, from Newquay, produced an amazing show during the event. Mixing "old-world nose rides and iconic style" with "modern high speed turns and speed floats."
