It's been a difficult few months for businesses in Cornwall as the credit crunch continues to cause day to day financial heartache. The country is now officially in a recession, so things aren't likely to get easier for a while.

According to figures from the Office for National Statistics unemployment in the UK rose to 1.97 million between October and December. This comes as The Bank of England warned that we were facing a "deep recession" for 2009. In Cornwall the number of benefits claimants this month (Feb) has risen from 2.5 to 2.9 per cent.
