The castle itself is like a fort. In the basement you can find the kitchen. Working your way up a winding staircase you can enjoy a display of replica guns and equipment which attempt to give a idea of what the gun-deck was like.

The Governor of Pendennis was housed in the entrance block to the main castle, built during the third phase of construction around 1550.

You can see what his dining room would have looked like and a portrait of one of the Governors.

The top floor offers the sights and sounds of a war during the Tudor and Stuart period. Smoke rises throughout the room as you hear the sound of canons being fired towards the enemy out on the waters.

Today the castle and its surrounding area acts as a great spot to re-live history.

On the weekend of Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th June you can hear the boom of the noon-day gun being fired for the first time this year, when the annual Military Vehicle Trust presentation of 'Coast Defence in Action' takes place.
