See the photos. If you thought fish was just something you wrapped in batter on a Friday night, think again. The Newlyn Fish Festival offered the chance for people to sample sushi and sashimi, seafood paella, quality smoked seafood, fish kebabs, fish curries and much more. There were plenty of activities for children including the Reef Rockpool Roadshow along with live music, fish auctions, and cooking demonstrations. An RNLI display in Newlyn Throughout the day Cornish craftsmen displayed traditional maritime skills including withy pot making and rope work. In the harbour there was a helicopter display, fishery protection Vessel, RNLI, trawlers and crabbers, as well as a Harrier Fighter plane cockpit. The Newlyn Fish Festival started back in 1991 as a way of raising money for the local fishing industry and to boost the image and work of the Fishermen's Mission. It now attracts over 21,000 visitors each year.
