In Camborne Town centre a statue stands prominently outside the Library. The famous piece of work is a tribute to Richard Trevithick. It was unveiled in 1932 by Prince George, in front of a crowd of thousands of proud Cornish residents.

The statue depicts the inventor with a model of the Camborne locomotive under one arm and a pair of dividers in the other. When you visit make sure you look at the panels on the work which lists Trevithick's other famous inventions. Each year the town proudly remembers the inventor, and other highlights in their industrial heritage with Trevithick Day. The event is held on Saturday 28 April 2007. The streets of Camborne will come alive with dancing, a fairground, Vintage & Veteran vehicles, Model Exhibitions, School Displays, Street Stalls, Static Engines, Miniature Steam Engines, Moving Steam Engines and much more.
