Help For Heroes Sanctuary Garden
Designed by Drusilla Stewart and William Beresford
"There was no blinding flash of light, but rather an idea that slowly developed after my husband announced that he would be returning to military operations this May, this time to Afghanistan. I wished to create a sanctuary for those who do not return safely, somewhere they can find focus and peace to deal with both their physical and mental injuries.
For William and I, the ethos behind this garden has been to focus 100% on its end goal – to provide a peaceful space for recuperating servicemen and women.
To that end, while we have designed the garden using clean lines, geometry and contemporary styling we have also endeavoured to soften these using materials that will resonate with the soldiers and retain a sense of warmth and comforting personal space."
