The exhibition is on from 6-28 May Two of the 200 ideas chosen from the hundreds sent in as part of the competition launched in January 2006 - 200 Ideas for Brunel. The competition called for ideas to make Bristol a better place to live, work in and visit and is part of Brunel 200 – a year-long celebration of the life, work and legacy of Isambard Kingdom Brunel in the year that marks the bicentenary of his birth. "Some of the 200 ideas were put forward for fun; many were quirky; some offered the potential for genuine transformation," said Andrew Kelly, director of Brunel 200. "All of them were Brunellian in their approach. They break the rules, look beyond current policy, and often practical constraints, and seek the new. All should provoke discussion and debate." Additional ideas were received from local schools and from students at the University of the West of England, bringing the total of ideas submitted to more than 500. The winner of the competition's £1,000 first prize was announced during the exhibition following the deliberations of a judging panel. The 200 Ideas for Bristol exhibition ran at The Architecture Centre, Bristol, from 6-28 May 2006.Some of the ideas which have made it through to the final 200:
