Not much we can tell you about tonight's HR. Young Guns are a brand new band from High Wycome that you can see out on tour in February. aside from that, Winter Kiss is a massive slab of wide screen rock & the sound of King Kong ambition. We're into it.

We finish of this year's season of versus with the return of Chris Moyles into the boxing ring. Recorded earlier this month, you can hear the full hour this Thursday night...but here's a teaser. Expect big records to finish of our final show in 2009!

Single number two from the forthcoming new album from Kano. Deeper and darker than 'Rock n Roller'. Great raps and production as always. Kano is a class act.

We knew something was special on the horizon when Massive Attack returned earlier this year with 'Splitting The Atom'. Further investigation unveiled an incredible line up of guest artists for a forthcoming new album. Now we know it's all real. 'Heligoland' will be that album, due out Feb 2010. And on the strength of 'Paradise Circus', this could be a whole new level of quality for a band that specialise in it. Featuring the vocals of Hope Sandoval, of Mazzy Star this is just beautiful. Texts back it up.

There has been whispers and rumours about this album for some time, but tonight's hottest record makes it official. Gil Scott-Heron is back and sounding as urgent as he ever did. 'Me & The Devil' shows the dark and beat heavy side to this new album, 'I'm New Here'. From what I've heard, it's a broader listen that's intimate, sensitive, at times fun, but always powerful and though-provoking. One for the fans, and for the un-initiated, a great discovery.

Given the amount of time in between 'P and '3', it's safe to say no one here expected new music from Portishead for a considerable amount of time. Result. 'Chase the Tear' is a stand alone song released digitially for a cause close to their hearts and signals that perhaps Portishead may be back with an album sooner, rather than later. In any case, this is one appargiated groove, that's positively upbeat by anyone's standards, can do no wrong in my books. Leave a comment.

Two Hottest Records tonight. First up, brand new Tinie Tempah which bodes well for a full release next year. Check out the crafty double time tempo change at the end. And the return of Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip. Delivering another passionate stream of consciousness that fans have come to know and appreciate. Check em out.

All ears on 2010 and the return of The Courteeners is good news for the loyal and a point of interest for the curious. This new song is unexpected in sound and timing.
There is a lot of interest in this new album 'Falcon' round our way. Sounds like they've defied any expectation based on the debut album. Etc.

The final Masterpiece of 2009 is Daft Punk's Discovery album.

Tonight's Masterpiece was the 1979 album 'London Calling' from The Clash. It regularly makes the "Top 3 Best British albums of all time" lists, and is certainly one of the greatest albums of all time.

The Clash have influenced everyone from Jamie T, Frank Turner, Lily Allen and Green Day, and were one of the first bands to blur the lines between reggae, rock and, of course, punk.
