In a time of malaise which is turning to fear about the economy adding to fear of terrorism, the public can become vulnerable to the lure of charismatic demagogues. This is what Obama is turning into. Obamamania or Obamination? The fact remains that at this point in his political life he is far too inexperienced to become President of the United States and if he is elected, there is every reason to believe his administration will be an unmitigated disaster. There's an old saying that no one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public. If he is nominated, on election day that theory will be put to the test.
It is one thing to win an election on promises and platitudes, quite another to run the US government's Executive branch. He's simply way out of his depth here. Hillary Clinton it should be added is only marginally more experienced. While she may have sat in the lap of power and occasionally even slept in its bed, her own direct experience is also relatively limited. Coming to New York State as she did to get elected, she was an opportunistic Carpetbagger just like Robert Kennedy was when he was referred to as the third Senator from Massachusetts. Why does New York State allow this to happen, why aren't its residency requirement laws for holding public office more like those of other states?
If Obama becomes President, I predict the honeymoon will end quickly when reality sets in. I know a lot of Europeans are rooting for Obama thinking that his ultra liberal views, at least what we know of them are a lot like their own. They may be in for quite a rude awakening. We have another old saying here, be careful what you wish for, you never know when your wish may come true.
And who am I voting for? None of the above. I see McCain as the least worst choice. It often boils down to that. Why would anyone in his right mind want to be President of the United States anyway?

Complain about this postI would love to see Obama beat Clinton for the Democratic nomination, the worst possible outcome for the US would be yet another 'dynasty'.
Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton all four of them are deeply flawed, Obama does not bring any baggage to his campaign (ignoring the Clinton camps smear tactics).
Obama v McCain would be a refreshing change for the US political arena, I find it hard to pick a winner from both these dignified candidates, luckily I am not a voter in the US so will watch the race with great interest.
