By their cars shall we know them ...
What does a person鈥檚 car of choice tell you about that person? Here鈥檚 a list, compiled by the Associated Press, of what some of the main US presidential candidates drive: make of it what you will.
Hillary Clinton: Ford Hybrid
John Edwards: Ford Escape Hybrid; 2004 Chrysler Pacifica midsize SUV; 1994 GMC truck
Barack Obama: Chrysler 300C sport luxury sedan
Rudy Giuliani: 鈥淚 don鈥檛 drive; I navigate.鈥
Mike Huckabee: 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe; 1995 Chevrolet Silverado pickup
Mitt Romney: 2005 Ford Mustang convertible; 1962 Rambler American
Funny, isn鈥檛 it: not a Japanese vehicle among them 鈥
OK, here's my analysis;
Hillary Clinton; hybrid...undecided, straddles both sides of an issue until she sees which way the wind is blowing. This light vehicle can be blown all over the road by strong crosswinds.
John Edwards, also straddles the issues but is even more envious of power and dominance which he tries to keep well hidden. It' s only exposed when he thinks nobody is watching him.
Barack Obama; a pretense of luxury but a complete sham. A Chrysler 300 C is no Rolls Royce but it's as close as Obama dares get. Not the genuine article at all, a pretender. Wants to swim with the big boys but doesn't have the substance they do, all show and no go or staying power. Maybe when he matures with experience in 8 years and graduates to the big leagues but not today.
Rudy Giuliani; I'll tell you what to do and you do it. If I say we go to war with Iran, I will fight on to victory if it costs every last one of you your lives.
Mike Huckabee; conventional, unimaginative. Always predictable. Dull, no spirit, no sense of daring or adventure. Gray, gray, gray.
Mitt Romney; wants to be one of the boys but deep down he knows he's a loser. He keeps that Rambler well hidden in the garage. He only looks at it in his deepest darkest moments knowing where he came from and that he hasn't really come that far.
Me, what di I drive? A 1996 Lincoln Mark VIII LSC, sleek, powerful, fast, surprisingly maneuverable, fully equipped, a wolf in sheep's clothing. Completely anonymous...except to the insurance companies when the set the premium rates.
Complain about this postFunny ?
Fun would (and will) be as soon as the first US presidential candidate drives a chinese car !
But one can be said - Each of them is a patriot ! Any foreign car is driven by one of them.
Complain about this postMaybe they should have a debate where they all ask god what car to drive. It'd be about as fruitful as the debates they've had thus far.

Complain about this postVery interested in your discussion tonight on class and the reference to this being an English phenomenon. I can assure you that class snobbery and distinction is alive and kicking in Scotland and always has been, despite the rather sweetly anxious assertions that "it just doesn't happen here" (along with racism and litter).
Complain about this postAn interesting thing I've noticed is that the many prominent Scots in England enjoy a kind of classlessness amongst their English hosts, but not amongst their compatriots. This is entirely down to accent. Radio / 91热爆 Scotland is more or less a feeder team for the wider 91热爆 - despite this, you'll never ever hear a Glasgow accent on air outside of football programmes. They'll simply never make it into feeder squad. The English, of course, have no idea what the difference between a Glasgow and a Fettes accent is and so their owners would be equal in English eyes. Not so in Scotland.
