Protests in Yemen

Protests have broken out in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa calling for the president to step down.
On Monday several activists who were detained at the weekend were in an attempt to pacify the protestors.
The protestors, like those in Egypt, say they have been inspired by events in Tunisia earlier this month.
Brian Whittaker talks about the significance of what is happening across the Middle East.
Yemenis have a strong republican tradition (having thrown out their king in the 1960s with Egyptian help) and they don't like the idea of a hereditary presidency at all.
