Does Japan owe the world an apology before it gets one?
65 years after nuclear bombs were dropped on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, some people in Japan are still waiting for .
But with the US, France and Britain sending representatives to Hiroshima commemorations for the first time, some feel even this is giving too much to Japan. The son of the U.S. pilot who dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima likening it to an Ìý²õ²¹¾±»å: "It's making the Japanese look like they're the poor people, like they didn't do anything".
For :
we should not apologize to Japan. Not in your wildest dreams... Mr. Tadatoshi Akiba (Mayor of Hiroshima)! We should NEVER apologize nor ever consider doing so until: Japan apologizes for the unprovoked attack on Pearl Harbor killing 2350 Americans. Japan apologizes for the Rape of Nanking in 1937 killing 300,000 civilians...
And this blogger agrees the US will never apologise for Hiroshima and Nagasaki until Japan formally apologises for .
But , while acknowledging the devastation caused by Japan, thinks otherwise:
Refusing to apologize is condoning the violence perpetrated on innocent people. Not just on the Japanese, but on ALL victims of World War II.
In an email to the 91Èȱ¬, John in Berkshire writes:Â
My father was a Japanese prisoner of war and would have died but for the bomb. So the bomb gave me life. The Japanese war lords started the war. The Americans just finished it. Let's put the blame where it belongs for once - with the war lords.
a message echoed by George in Walsall:
Marvellous, by marking the 65th anniversary of the dropping of the world's first Atomic Bomb, we are being asked to acknowledge and to some extent atone for this event. Fair enough. So WHEN will Japan ... make full and unreserved apologies to those it butchered in China, India, Singapore, Burma - the list goes on and on!
