When , they sold off the Wrexham Lager trademark to , MP for Clwyd South, for £1. Mr Jones, a former microbiologist for the brewery, tells that he plans to pass on the name to anyone who could make "a worthy local beer".
Fingers crossed someone comes forward.
After reading today's story, I started to trawl through our local history archives and found our slideshow charting the demolition of the brewery. Wrexham museum's John Gammond has previously explained just how involved the town was in brewing.
Last year we also received new info and old photos about another former big brewer, Border Breweries Mineral Works, Mount Street, Wrexham. All that remains today is the chimney and exterior of the building which, inside, has been converted into apartments:
