Missing out on doorstep treasures

Have you visited Llangollen & Corwen recently because they been enjoying some great PR lately among the London press?

The Observer's "" earlier this month featured hotels and restaurants in the area as part of their focus on fine food, and featured restaurants in Llangollen, a cafe in Llandegla and a cycling and camping event in Ruthin in September.

Meanwhile, The Guardian has also featured walks from St Asaph to Cwm and around Llangollen and the River Dee in the June issue of their .

Glyn posted a message on our Corwen mini site last Monday to say that the town could be doing more to capitalise on tourism, chiefly Owain Glyndwr, the mountains and fishing.

Personally, we tend to visit some of the 'touristy' places on our doorstep when we're taking visiting family and friends out and about. I see we should have to visit more often as we're clearly missing out - but then again we all have favourite local places.

I know a guy who walks up , a nature reserve in Johnstown, Wrexham, three times a day. There's a chap in Mold who used to walk up Moel Famau daily - and, as I've said out before, I never grow tired of the panoramic view atop Moel Findeg, near Mold.
