Now they'll pay you to get fit!
It seems like the is giving money away to help people who want to get fit. Already they've paid out £700,000 from its fund in hand-outs of £750-a-time to fund small projects in Denbighshire, Flintshire & Wrexham.
Here are some examples of local groups who've been laughing all the way to the bank:
Denbighshire: The Parents and Teachers Association at Ysgol Heulfre in Denbigh used their £750 to set up fitness classes for teachers, parents and governors. The project aims to increase links between parents, teachers and governors and to increase health.
Wrexham: The 15-strong human resources department at NEWI received £750 to help fund a physical activity programme and a healthy eating plan.
As a result of the popularity and success of the scheme, the Sports Council for Wales is raising the level of grant to £1000. The scope of the scheme has also been widened too. Now most organisations seeking to develop physical activity and sporting projects will be eligible for an award. To find out more - call 0845 045 0908.
Not bad, eh? Any ideas how you could put £1,000 to good use - all in the name of exercise and healthy eating, of course!
