Emptying the bank
Sinn Fein's Alec Maskey is planning a heist. He wants a bank emptied of its contents. In this case the bank in question is in Stranmillis in South Belfast, and the contents are bottles.
Republicans have been accused of being too efficient at emptying banks in the past (e.g. Christmas 2004) and Alec has some experience in this activity himself as a teenager.
However, when it comes to bottle banks, the South Belfast MLA wants the Council to do the job more frequently, or, failing that, to install extra bottle banks.

Off course Alex would claim any previous activities he was involved in during the Struggle were carried out as a result of the political situation in the six counties.

Noting that you often refer to elements of The Troubles in your Blog I鈥檓 beginning to believe that our recent history is the 鈥渆lephant in your room鈥. This was exemplified by your mean-spiritedness in drawing an analogy between Alex Maskey鈥檚 long-time and tireless efforts to save the Planet and his past. After all, if our local Politicians and the British Government are prepared, inter alia:
- to forget over 3,500 dead;
- to disregard countless thousands injured and maimed;
- to ignore, to all intents & purposes, the Victims of The Troubles;
- to overlook wholesale mafia criminality;
- to provide funds for proscribed organisations;
- to avoid the establishment of a truth and justice process;
- to turn the rule of law on its head for political expediency on numerous occasions;
why do you to drag up old memories by taking a cheap shot at Alex?
No Mark, it鈥檚 time to follow the lead of the majority of your journalistic colleagues and show proper deference to the occupants of that Circus on the Hill. So forget about the past. Just keep telling yourself 鈥渢here鈥檚 no elephant in the room鈥. This worked for the DUP and Tony Blair. Being a man totally devoid of integrity, principle and conscience and driven by personal aggrandisement Peter Hain is untroubled by elephants in his room.

You have hit the elephant on the head and now the the poor thing has amnesia - along with all the rest of those in that 'Circus on the Hill'...
