Springwatch's first blog

Tim Scoones Tim Scoones | 14:20 UK time, Friday, 23 May 2008

Welcome to the Springwatch blog, a brand new departure for us in 2008. My name is Tim Scoones. I'm the Executive Producer of Springwatch. In normal English that means I lead the team of about 150 people who create the month-long Springwatch Experience on TV and on the web.

From Monday, Reema Lorford (the Series Producer and my partner in crime in managing the team) and I will be blogging daily to give you an idea of what it's like to work behind the scenes on Springwatch.

Don't worry, this isn't going to be one of those blogs that tells you in great detail what I - or Bill, or Reema - had for breakfast (not sure how that could that ever be interesting to anyone). We're going to use it as a bit of a backstage pass to what it takes to get everything ready for each broadcast.

I'd like to think of it as a miscellany of moments - a bit like making a scrapbook that pulls together thoughts and experiences. Not only from Reema and me, but from the whole team.

Just like Springwatch itself, we're going to give it to you as it happens, so at this stage I can't even tell you what's going to be in it! What I can say is that Springwatch is well and truly here, and we have Ignition Sequence Start...

Right, that had better do for now on the Springwatch blog. There are always a million things I need to do at this stage of the production, and never enough time to do them.
