Sports Personality - On the move
The Sports Personality of the Year programme is for the first time in its distinguished 53-year history - and its new home is Birmingham.
The show has most recently been broadcast from a studio at 91Èȱ¬ Television Centre.
For some time now, we've wanted to stage the awards in a much bigger arena to allow greater public access to the show.
I know, in the past, many sports fans have been disappointed they could not be part of this unique experience and the stars themselves have wanted the public there.
So we're really excited that we'll be filming the event live from the NEC in Birmingham on Sunday 10 December with members of the public in the audience for the first time ever.
Tickets will go on sale from 0900 BST on Monday 16 October – you can find out more details on the The 91Èȱ¬ will not make any profit from ticket sales, with money going into staging the event.
Why Birmingham? Well, the city has such a fantastic heritage for sport.
More major sporting championships have taken place in the area than anywhere else in Europe in the last four years including Premiership football, Davis Cup tennis, international athletics, gymnastics, badminton and Test match cricket.
The Sports Personality team have been working really hard with local people in the Midlands area to make this happen for some time now and I've been really impressed at how excited and helpful everyone has been.
After an incredible year of sport there'll be plenty for the audience to cheer about with stars from the Ryder Cup, World Cup, Commonwealth Games, Winter Olympics all on show. It should produce a magical atmosphere on the night.
I'd be really interested to hear your thoughts on the move and your involvement could help us formulate some ideas for the new-look show.
We've been enjoying your feedback that has already come in, so thanks for that.
