Patrick Moore
The track that Sir Patrick Moore inherited from his parents was The Beautiful Blue Danube by Johann Strauss. He would like to pass on the theme from his television programme, The Sky At Night, which is At The Castle Gate from Pelleas Et Melisande, by Jean Sibelius.
It's a very good thing that the Patrick Moore section was recorded as otherwise you would have recieved the sharp edge of his tongue for describing him as an astrologer rather than an astronomer. Astrologers are non-scientists wno make horoscopes for people who think one twelfth of the world are "going to meet an attractive stranger". Astronomers study the stars which is what Patrick Moore has dedicated his life to.
Sorry sack the researcher!
Complain about this postIm sure patric more will be delighted to be described as an astrologer. Years devoted to the rigorous science of astronomy and he is relegated by Fi to the ranks of flakes and charlatans.
Complain about this postIt says something about the state of modern scientific awareness that this mistake can even be made. I hope Sir Patrick has a sense of humour.
Complain about this postThe first time I heard Patrick Moore described as an astrologer on the introduction to this, I thought it was an unfortunate slip of the tongue. Then it was repated a few sentences later, showing that Fi Glover obviously has no clue what the differnce is between an astronomer and an astrologer. Should she really be fronting a programme like this, if she has such a limited understanding of basic vocabulary?
