Muriel Gray was today's studio guest and poetry was provided by Matt Harvey.
Our Guerilla Report came from Rob the Rubbish. Joe Dobbie told us how his romantic email went around the world and Sheila Hoken described what it's like to regain your sight. Sword swallower Hannibal Helmuto revealed what he wished he had known and the podcast came from Afterhell. This week's Inheritance Tracks were chosen by Dickie Davies.
Listen again to this edition of Saturday Live (27 January 2007)
my radio was on, and i was listening.
the Cool Water song is a cowboy song called Cool Water, the B side of Gypsy by the Sons of the Pioneers. when i told my girlfriend she said 'oh, no! not that song.' - i will now have to sing the refrain for several days. i have lost my copy, otherwise i would have posted it for Muriel.
you can buy it on Amazon. other on-line retailers may also have it available.
i love the show, but this is the first time i have visited the website. Fi - you don't look like i had imagined. uncanny.
Complain about this postMuriel sat on her father's 78's collection apparently destroying a wonderful old cowboy song " Cool Water ".
Complain about this postI have a lovely old record by " Sons of the Pioneers " bought by my elder brother in the 50's but I think originally recorded before the war ( I might be wrong on that ) featuring a beautifully dated but well sung version of this song and loads more Cowboy songs/ballads of that ilk.
I will happily send a tape to Muriel if she would like ( upon being indemnified against any copyright infringements !! - I don't think RCA would mind though if they even exist now )
Cool Waters. Hit song in the 1940s.
Complain about this postI used to know it off by heart but now I can only remember:
The nights are cool and I'm a fool, each star's a pool of water, Cool Water
Chorus: Keep a movin' Dan, don't you listen to him Dan, he's a devil not a man and he spreads the burning sand with water.
Several more verses but I cannot remember the exact words.
