Here's our fortnightly look at what's coming up under the red button...

Springwatch Unsprung

SpringwatchPicture the Springwatch team in the pubÂ… Relaxed presenters chatting about the show just gone. Members of the audience showing each other their spectacular photos and videos of spring, sharing tales of the wonderful wildlife they've seen on their doorstep and asking the presenters those animal questions they'd always wanted to know the answers to. This is Springwatch Unsprung.
OK, it won't actually be coming from the pub, but for 15 minutes every night immediately following the 91Èȱ¬ Two show Springwatch will continue broadcasting live from Pensthorpe in Norfolk. Only this time the audience will be the stars not the creatures.

91Èȱ¬ Radio 3: A Midsummer Night's Dream

91Èȱ¬ Radio 3: A Midsummer Night's Dream2009 marks the 200th anniversary of Felix Mendelssohn's birth and to celebrate 91Èȱ¬ Radio 3 and Red Button are taking to the stage.

Following The Birth of British Music on 91Èȱ¬ Two digital viewers will be able to watch a fully-staged production of Shakespeare's comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream to which the composer set incidental music.

As the setting for this special event director Tim Carroll (of the RSC and formerly the Globe Theatre) has selected perhaps the finest Elizabethan hall in the country, Middle Temple Hall in London, the very same room where Shakespeare watched (and possibly acted in) the first performance of Twelfth Night in 1602. Meanwhile, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment conducted by Charles Hazlewood will use period instruments to recreate the sound that Mendelssohn would have imagined.

This one-off performance forms the centrepiece of a series of celebratory events being held across the 91Èȱ¬.

Saturday 30th May, following The Birth of British Music (91Èȱ¬ Two)
