I'm sorry to report that

Eddie Mair | 12:47 UK time, Sunday, 24 June 2007

despite bidding with the entirety of my Eurovision Song Contest office sweep winnings (still wisely unspent at five pounds) I've just learned that we have been unable to secure the first post jail interview with xin_5905040908104061048512.jpg

who has chosen instead to give the interview to Mr Larry King.

Below is how Mr King reacted when told he would be sitting across the table for Ms Hilton on Wednesday night.

Don't worry about it Eddie, we'd only have moaned in the Glass Box about how it isn't either news, or interesting.

I thought Eddie was going to be the answer to a question on Round Britain Quiz yesterday since the question mentioned 'a well known radio 4 PM presenter' but it turned out to be Nigel Wrench.

RBQ has become easy peasy these days, not a shadow of it's former self alas. And when did NW ?last/?ever PRESENT PM rather than just doing the odd report?

    I feel sorry for Larry.

Thing is - who gives a **** about her. Obviously too many people do.

Ricky Gervais hit the nail on the head this morning talking to Kirsty.

Too many people are concerned about celebrities these days, for some unknown reason they seem far more worthy and held in higher esteem than say a scientist who may have made a breakthrough in cancer.

If it weren't for the fact that her amateur sex video leaked on to the Internet and she is due to inherit a share of the Hilton groups share - who would be interested.

In a way, I'm surprised you've defaced the blog Eddie - and if you ever give more than a passing comment on PM - I'll be with Chris Evans in the press of a button.

Eddie - I can't believe you didn't invest your fiver - surely you could have found some rate of return somewhere - you could have £5.10 by now and who knows, maybe that extra 10p could have won you the interview.

I still maintain that the best use for that money is buying me a G&T. It would almost certainly guarantee more interest than sitting in your desk drawer - or wherever you keep your loose change ;)

Oh dear Perky -- disbelief thrice?

I confess, I get most of my news from the radio, so I didn't know what she looked like, and only cottoned on when I read "Ms Hilton" in the last line. Quite liked that video though Jonnie -- now I know all I ever need to about her :-)

Thanks for the big wave, btw!

Sorry, who are we talking about? I'm afraid I don't recognise the blonde in the Alice band at all. Would I know her if I ever watched television, or something?

Is it Wednesday that Gordy become PM? If so are you going to use the £5 to secure that interview? To further entice him, I have some Scottish fivers in the safe at work. Do you want to swap your crisp english one for my scotch ones?

I didn't recognise her either. Had to get the clues from the context. Not interested anyway so I don't care if you don't interview her.

But would LOVE to hear PM get the first interview with the new PM. Surely he must give you some sort of preference for the Scottish connection? Mustn't he?

ah, Paris.... an icon that once probably was culturally refined yet is now seedy - especially by its association with sex.

Once able to hold the world to attention through utterances in the media, now seems quiet on the world stage and petulant in its desire for recognition.

whu? is this the Culture Show? bugger, wrong blog....

    Where have you been!

Nice to hear from you - and yes it was the wrong blog re: the posted picture above!

Re: Stewart - I've tried to alert people to that huge beer keg on your lovely pictures (Beach I think) but I'm not allowed to link to them :-(

All click on Stewarts name on the beach and admire the massive Keg - whatever it is!

Amazing, Can you give us more of it's history?

Its a wine keg. Mercier Champagnes.
This keg was taken to the world exhibition in Paris 1889. So this thing held 215000 bottles of wine (Champagne??) Took 24 Oxen and 18 horses to transport it from Epernay to Paris in 20 days.

Eugene Mercier was a bit of an ALan Sugar. He started out with no money and build an empire. He quarried his champagne caves in a grid pattern. He sold the limestone that he quarried whereas other just thought it was waste stone. He made sure he has an exit from the cellars next to the railway line with sidings for easy transport. He stored ice in his cellars and sold it in the summer. Used balloon trips as a means of advertising. I think mercier also gave away champagne when the new fangled Grand Prix car races started.

I'll e mail you the piccy if you want jonnie. but the link is

nah - never never the wrong blog.

    merely lame humour...

been working hard and getting home too late to blog. Also seems more difficult to get "in" to conversations here - at least for someone tired! Themes seem to be within the blogs rather than anything obvious from the Eddie's starting post.

anyway, still around and lurking... glad to know you're all keeping the place alive!!
