Got a story?
Something else which came up in our post-programme discussion last night (see Glass Box below) was how we get story ideas from listeners. You might remember I've done a few on-air appeals from time to time, and we've had good responses. A few times listeners have emailed in with story ideas and in one recent case the item that resulted was a lead story.
So this is just a reminder that if there's something going on you think we should know about...something that might be worthy of wider investigation, just drop us an email. It may be a sensitive topic and you can be assured we will treat your details in confidence. The best address is pm@bbc.co.uk - just mark your email "story idea" or some such.
Now where did I put that egg...
Happy Easter, Mr. Mair.
(Whoops! Am I the first commentator again - ;o))
What kept you Big Sis? - I gave you a two hour start! ;o)
I would be interested how much research PM would be able/willing to put into a story, before confiding one that could be a strong candidate.
It involves hazardous waste, a cowboy developer, the Environment Agency, Health Protection Agency, a dodgy detective agency, illegal phone tapping and computer hacking, a local authority that did not support an employee who was the victim of the tapping, and a court case resulting in cowboy developer going to jail!
Clearly I can't weave all of that into a 2-minute package for PM. But I'm willing to pick out the best bits and supply contact info where it's in the public domain.
Fifi
PS I will put this in an email too.
If PM is really going to trawl the listeners for stories, that will ensure it has a healthy leavening of news that hasn't already been stirred around by Today and TWAO.
Nor will Newsnight be able to copy later in the evening!
Smart move, methinks.
Fifi
Hey Fifi - that story sounds fascinating, I hope they do indeed pick up on it. Can't wait!
