Black Knight

Sequin | 10:08 UK time, Thursday, 15 March 2007

Thanks for all the comments yesterday on Trident and on Blue Peter ( Big Sis and Peter Scott - yes I am reading the blogs!). Hope you're not too traumatised by the fake phone-in news. I know many people are still reeling from the news that Petra was switched at birth, and Fred the tortoise became Freda the tortoise ( or was it the other way around?)
To take your mind off things, we've got some pictures from Chicago - Nils Blyth is there covering the trial of Conrad Black . I'll send them out later when he gives them to me.

Never mind fake phone-in news, sequin, what about fake news phone-ins? I've had my suspicions about "Any Answers" for some time now. Except when Eddie's in the chair, of course.....

Since Val Singleton still has connections with the PM team, I'm surprised that we did not get an answer to that burning question - did Val S really make that one earlier?

Sequin, I have to bow to your erudition and smartypantsness!

For those who don't spot the reference, not only does "Black Knight" allude to Lord Conrad Black, but it was the name of the rocket that Britain was developing in the 1950's. The programme was refined into developing the Blue Streak ballistic missile, which was later cancelled in favour of buying Polaris missiles from the USA, hence the Trident connection.

How good is PM? How good is Sequin?
(Do we have to have that Edmund chap back next week?)

Well we always knew sequin is clever. I bet she's made a model of the Black Knight, & the Blue Streak, using found objects from the studio, & a roll of sticky-backed plastic. Probably made it during the programme. That's the kind of gal she is.

We're waiting for a photo now, Carolyn! And could you perhaps manage a model of Trident too? Only if you've spare time during the show, naturally.

Btw, where's our postcard from Eddie? Or is it out of sight , out of mind? Doesn't he care about us anymore?

I sent 91Èȱ¬ PM some photos of Miami Florida. I hope you received them. I also saw the apology [pre recorded] on my computer. I hope Blue Peter puts this behind and that there are no redundancies.

I will say that when I was a child in the 1960's, I was four or five years old [1966-1967] when US Comedian Soupy Sales opened a door and the censors had to cover up a nude lady. This was live and in a Childrens TV Program. This same comedian also received a warning from the powers that be in US Television when he told children to "take green paper from your parents purse or wallet and give them to me" [His quotes not mine]. Unbelievable but true.

    Cheers from Miami

All this Zimbabwe stuff... its confusing me.

I'm a pretty strong supporter of the ballot box being used to remove leaders, as opposed to violence. When it comes to international regimes, I don't believe that the West has any place intervening as though it were the world's self-appointed policeman (eg Iraq).

So why do I increasingly find myself thinking that it wouldn't be a bad thing if someone just unloaded a few bullets in Robert Mugabe's direction? Am I morally wrong to think that?

Is that some kind of modern beat combo? I'm afraid I lost interest in popular music around the time Bix Beiderbecke died.

Personally, the reference that sprang to my mind on seeing that title was "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" (Mønti Pythøn ik den Hølie Gräilen) - "The Black Knight always triumphs!"

SSC is obviously looking for some sort of Connection.

Electric Dragon (or should that be SSC?)

The only way to get a Connection these days is by dialling a premium-rate number. Actually, the PM letterline number is a so-called National number, not Premium. However, that doesn't mean the price is necessarily equal to that of an 01- or 02- number. Hence the e-petition asking Mr. Blair to force companies to publish ordinary telephone numbers.
