First of all, we never get a result at Watford. Secondly, the media seem to think we have a bottomless pit full of cash, we don't. We have signed some decent players in Cerny, Buzsaky and Faurlin. Buzsaky was probably wondering around outside afterwards thinking a) what the hell are players like myself, Taarabt and Gorkss doing on the bench!? b) when I do play I'm stuck out on the left!? Alot of fans are saying sack Jim, I say no. Jim needs to sort this out and get his best players on the pitch not warming the bench.

a weekend of dressing room spats...Pulis being investigated by the club for alledgedly attempting to head butt striker James Beattie. Is it just me or do not enough managers butt their star players any more?

My favourite bust up was Mark Wright pushing Lawrie McMenemy into a plunge bath at the Dell. Bring back plunge baths instead of these poncey showers and hydrotherapy nonsense.

It would seem that history is about to repeat itself.

After the appalling few weeks that we have had, we now go to the Hawthorns.

2 years ago, John Gregory was sacked after a 5-1 mauling at West Brom. I think that ANY defeat, next monday, will be enough to see Mr Magilton handed his cards (and a big, fat cheque).

The optimism of the fans has given way to the boo-boys and that tends to lead in one direction only. I will be surprised to see Jim still there for the visit to Ipswich on 28/12.

Why can he not decide on his best XI? Why did he leave Buzz, Taraabt and Simpson on the bench, last night? Why does he keep making the same excuses?

Not good news. Buzsaky is one of the few first teamers who isn't a loan Ranger, so for him to be literally out in the cold is definitely not a good sign. I see troubled times ahead for the Rs.

So pleased for Doyley, this year he has got himself into the box more than ever, he's had a couple of half decent chances too. I'll never forget a few years ago at home to Crewe he was in the box, about to shoot, when it must have got to him as he hit an air shot and fell over.

Ever the professional, that apart from Mackay, for every manager that has come to Watford he was dropped only to fight his way back into the team and stay there.

Hopefully we won't have to wait another 269 matches for his next goal!

It's a bizarre turn of events - only a few weeks ago I genuinely believed that the football we were playing could merit a push for automatic promotion. Now we look like a side completely lacking in confidence and destined for mid-table mediocrity again.

The tightness of this league means that there is plenty of time for us to turn this around and if we get into the playoffs in the sort of form we were in earlier in the season, then promotion is certainly possible. We miss ex-Watford man Gavin Mahon's grit in midfield and the leadership qualities of injured captain Martin Rowlands immensely.

If Jim can find a settled team again, with the likes of Buzsaky, Routledge and Taarabt rediscovering their form, I still believe we'll reach the playoffs. This squad is the best we've had for a long, long time and I just hope Jim is the man that can get the best out of them.

Cerny, Ramage, Stewart, Borrowdale, Vine, Faurlin, all six started last night but are absolutely useless, our bench was better than the starting line up, Magilton cannot decide on his best line up because he hasnt got the bottle to play all the flair players, Buzsaky must play behind a striker and Taraabdt can come of the left wing and wander into a free role, watson and liegertwood play cmid and hold and routledge down the right, as for the back 4 well its just a shambles the only tackle we made all night should have seen stewart go for a straight red!! there needs to be a major clearout in january and a new back four purchased and keeper (how they ever imagined Cerny was better than Camp is completely beyond me!!)

Four year plan to get into the premier league, dont make me laugh we are only going in one direction mid table championship level and its all the club deserves at the moment with completely lacklustre signings and managerial appointments since this four year plan started!

superAdamStrange - I simply can't understand your negative assessment of Faurlin.

I like this Watford team. I've always said that with two genuine class players and a good team spirit, promotion is always possible. Sometimes very unlikely, but always possible - last time we got promoted, it was with a team that worked well for each other and was blessed with two in-form, quality players in Ashley Young and Marlon King.
The two class players we have this time are Cleverley and potentially Lansbury if he stays and continues his improvement. I'd have to say though I don't think we can rely on Danny Graham to score quite enough over a season wihtout some support if Helguson goes back to QPR.
Last night more than anything our team spirit won it for us. As the players were going down the tunnel for half time, you could see how much of a boost Doyley's goal had given them and how clear it was that they were going to enjoy the rest of the night. Lovely to see.

Paul - I wasn't completely convinced by Jim's appointment initially and I don't know if he can turn things round. But what I do know is that now Jim is in the job he should be given every oppportunity to get us back on track. The last thing we need is another change in manager at this stage, we just need Jim to find a settled team again (injuries permitting) and with the squad we have we should be pushing for a playoff place.

As for famous bust-ups, Sir Alex springs straight to mind - David Beckham (bootgate) & Jaap Stam to name just two. I'm sure there are many many more involving the moody Scot.

QPR fans are very worried. Several of Magilton's decisions over the last few weeks have been incomprehensible and he seems to be in the process of losing the dressing room.

In particular he has dismantled a defence which had one of the better records in the Championship last year, and is now making changes and publicly criticising his defence after every game. The only one who hasn't been criticised and/or dropped, Fitz Hall has the worst record of the lot and appears to have an unsettling effect on the others. Fans are wondering whether Fitz has some incriminating photos or something.

It seems likely that it will get worse before it gets better, probably without Magilton at this rate.

Faurlin along with Simpson should be the first names down on the team sheet at the moment as they have been consistently class all season so im not too sure what your on about Adam. but I do agree with you about Vine he's not been the sam since the leg break and I think they should try Simpson and Pat up front as he hasn't really given that a go yet.

Jim has got sort the defence out as we look all over the place at the back. Hes taken the best defence in league last season and made them into one of the worst. However hes done the opposite with the attack so a balance needs to be found fast. I dont see why we dont just have Stewart and Gorkss at the back as that work very well last season and for most of this season. Fitz Hall just offers nothing in my opinion.

I dont think anyone can honestly say either way whats going to happen next with us as we have played well and badly in equal measures this season and its becoming more and more fustrating but I hope he doesnt get sacked because as we've seen from last season it solves nothing and I hope the board have learnt that if nothing else from their two crazy seasons in charge.

We just need to settle with a team (that doesnt involve Hall!) for two or three games like we did earlier in the season and try and stick together if its not going well as there hasnt been much club unity since the take over due to the high ticket prices and the constant chopping and changing of managers and loaned players. If we do that I think the confidence and free flowing football will come back as the players will be more relaxed and happy.

In answer to your second question Paul, the current team has shown over half a season that it is capable of competing for a playoff place, especially when you bear in mind that we sold Tommy Smith, Jobi McAnuff, Tamas Priskin and Mike Williamson in August.

If we were to keep this team together for the rest of the season, we would have a chance. Sadly Loach and Helguson seem likely to leave, DeMerit could also be sold and there are even rumours that we cannot afford Lansbury's loan fee.

It's easy to criticise the QPR defence, but it's difficult to know who to blame.

With all the chopping and changing, the team is unsettled. But the one constant in the back line - the keeper Radek Cerny - has, for me, been one of our weakest performers this season.

Defenders need the confidence of a reliable keeper behind them. And with Cerny failing to gather crosses effectively, or putting the team in trouble with weak clearances (the goal he created for Leicester at Loftus Road the worst of the lot), our back four is worried not only by the opposition but also by their team mate.

I've double-posted because I want to give a special mention to young Lee Hodson, who has been absolutely fantastic all season, despite his diminutive stature. The lad is keeping seasoned pros like Jon Harley and former England U21 international Mat Sadler out of the side, is excellent going forward, and all this from someone who was 17 and on an academy contract at the start of the season.

I must admit i was pleasantly surprised to see QPR's bench last night. They looked an average and unhappy outfit, why was Agyemang's goal celebration so muted? As for Watford's chances it seems that each time we dare to dream we take a couple of hits to bring us back to earth, this win was after 2 straight defeats conceding 5 goals and scoring none. However we are playing football in a style that is both pleasing and effective even though last night only showcased it in patches. Anyone who saw us demolish Sheffield Wednesday will know how good we can look going forward. We may come up short though as the squad is small and as you point out not all of them are ours. January will also see at least one player sold and it won't be a player the fans will want to see go. If we do it and reach the play offs it will be against all these odds.

I cannot understand why Buzsaky didnt start last night - in fact I believe he should start all games with the team built around him - but then that is just my opinion. I also question why Gorkss was benched yet Fitz Hall continues to play - he is causing the whole team a problem he plays too deep and is too slow. I can understand why Buz is unhappy I just hope it is not him that goes. I truly believe rightly or wrongly that Magilton will go if we loose next Monday against WBA. Roll on christmas!

Cerny kept us in it last night with some great saves, lets not forget he won the Golden Gloves last season and is a IMO better than Lee Camp. Fitz Hall should be dropped and sold in January as I have never seen him have even a half decent game. Stewart and Gorkss at the back, and get Jim to tell Damage not to pass the half way line as he takes an age to get back. We played quite well during the last 20 mins or so last night and with a bit more luck/better finishing would have equalized. We need to play our form players and settle on a team, which should pick itself.

Yup we were extremly skeptical at the beginning of the season when Malky was appointed at key players were sold, with the club in a precarious financial predicament meaning he had very limited money to spend.

However his signing of Danny Graham gave us the early season impetus we needed, and since then for a tall player his amazing energy, and work-rate has had many goals and chances for others. Shrewd signings in the loan market of Cleverly and Langsbury gave us two players in a class above, perfectly suited to his style of play of a mix of long balls into space and fast-tempo short passing with plenty of off-the-ball movement. Key players have also come in the form of our superb adademy (Hodson) and players who before seemed to have no future (Eustace)

But Malky's best attributes have come when we have been on the end of heavy defeats, which has come about from a young team losing confidence when we have a sucker punch (like a number of early goals we have conceded or controversial penalties). So far this season every time we have bounced backed, he has kept faith in his selections and his style (many manager would have changed it), keeping confidence in our squad high, even with all our off-field problems and we have recovered with wins.

It is impossible to assess how well we can do this season until in the new year where we learn in which direction are our finances going in. If we manage to find an investor before the january transfer window, then we have a great chance of being promoted due to a great balance to the team, but if we don't and we have to unload key players, or even worse, face administration, then just surviving will do me in such a tight divison

Hi everyone,just wanted a rant about the woeful Rangers of the last 7 games of which we have won one some say undeserved victory away at a poor Sheffield Wednesday side. Where to start? Firstly I suppose is the lack of a leader and Rowlands and Mahon both getting injured hasn't helped. When Leigertwood (a solid centre midfielder but not a captain and also been playing out of position at right back for weeks - poor old Pedro Ramage!) handed the armband to Fitz Hall against Watford i nearly turned the TV off. How can he have Premier League experience with 2 clubs but be our worst defender? Dave Kitson and Lita absolutely ruined him on Saturday and he was at fault against Coventry too. He strolls around like he's Rio Ferdinand while our most consistent defender Kaspars Gorkss warms the bench.
Borrowdale has been a solid player in these last few games and as soon as we get Tommy Williams in on loan he makes 2 defensive mistakes away at Doncaster and hasn't played since (choices not good for either player's morale). Also Ramage played excellently against Watford delivering decent crosses into the box - he could be quicker but he has the right attitude!Buzsaky is suffering from confidence problems because he can't defend and is being played out of position on the left where Mark Yeates waltzed past him every time on Saturday. He should be playing off the striker (where Routledge - a natural winger is currently playing!!) or playing at top of a diamond with defensive midfielder mopping up.
Watson and Faurlin didn't work as a centre pairing. Also why did we sign (and then play for 90 mins vs Doncaster) Steven Reid who is clearly not fit? Watson is too worried about putting a tackle in in case he gets sent off for a third time and Faurlin is class (except for tackling) and wasted on the left - Donny and last night.Tarrabt is clearly a class player but is overweight and lazy - he never tracks back when he loses the ball doing his twelfth drag back when he has two players overlapped and when he was criticised by fans he sulked and almost went back to Spurs not that he'd get a game there. Bench or back to Spurs. What's wrong with Balanta - he came through our youth and has shined whenever given the opportunity but he'll probably be sold along with Ephraim (another decent player) to leeds and will come back to haunt us next season as most decent young players do.
Simpson has to start while he is on loan - Magilton has taken him off on a few occasions recently when he has been one of our best players (with no support from midfield) and replaced him with the useless Pellicori, who is slower and worse in most aspects that Samuel Di Carmine (at least they only gave him a 3 year deal eh?!)I fear we have become a team of individuals with no collective spirit - is that why (the excellent) Agyemang hardly celebrated his goal? Vine isn't the man he was and can only last an hour but he still has the right attitude like Agyemang does.
Thank god for Cerny - still not great at 1 on 1's and coming out (last night's 3rd goal and vs Matty Fryatt v Leicester) but without him we could have shipped 15 goals instead of 8 in the last 2 games.One day Matt Connolly will be QPR captain but he still needs to remain fit and has to learn a bit more before he can make that position his own.If we could only sign one loan player in January it would have to be Simpson. And for the fact i would rather have a QPR youth player or a Dirk Kuyt-esque team player, if we had to get rid of one it would be Tarrabt. Magilton's got it so much luckier than some. It's down to him to sort out a team that can challenge for promotion - the last 4 games especially their have been poor excuses. My current starting XI would be:
Cerny
Connolly Gorkss (C) Stewart Borrowdale
Routledge Faurlin Reid (if fit) Vine
Buszaky
Simpson
subs: Taylor(GK), Ramage, Williams, Leigertwood (for Reid), Watson, Agyemang, Ephraim / Balanta. If Mahon or Rowlands was fit they'd be playing centre and if Cook was playing he'd be on the bench coming on for Vine. No place for hall as ramage can slot right and Connoly centre if needs be. Thanks....i feel much better now! Roll on the bouncing Baggies!

I suppose one of the best things about football is the difference of opinion. I thought Ramage was (as usual) useless against Watford. Faurlin, on the other hand, looked (to me) a classy midfielder. Problem for players like that is they need to play in a team with quality players all round to be recognised.
Buzsaky and Taarabt are genuine class. Routledge on his day is brilliant too. Lee Cook will be a welcome addition when he returns. I just don't know about the forwards or defence. The forwards don't seem to have enough goals in them and the defence look always look shaky and uncomfortable with the ball at their feet (although Borrowdale has been impressive at times).
Still, the Championship is tight and there's a long way to go. Come the end of the season, I could be singing the praises of Agyemang, Ramage, Stewart and co...

I've just heard that Marc Bircham and Kevin Gallen's brother Steve that are about take over for the West Brom game so maybe not!

As a Donny fan I was rather underwhelmed by QPR when we played them quite recently ( - note the dirty tackles flying in towards the end). At the time I figured we'd just caught them on an off day as they evidently had talent available, but now I'm wondering if there was something more to it after all. I can't believe Cerny's getting bad press though because he was sensational for QPR that day!

Am loving the unpredictability of the Championship in general as ever, though :) That said I think it will be hellishly close again at both ends of the table all the way to the final day. With some stability and positive direction I can see QPR making the play-offs, I think the question now is how much this latest fiasco sets things back.

Why give a manager a few months to build his team and then jump the gun as soon as the going gets tough.

Watford have a great mix of players. One I wish North End would adapt more - take a punt on players like Williamson or Nugent (for Pne) and sell them on at a profit or get some good service.

Otherwise you end up with a squad of players happy in the championship picking up their salary.

Watford are a good club. Like many championship clubs they deserve to be in the premier leauge. If they can get a few better players they will be looking for promotion. Mabey if they could get Ben foster back (hes been rubish at United) and a few strikers, they would be looking to go up
