Wednesday's international football

The first night of international football this season and hopefully we'll get some idea of how our teams are shaping up ahead of the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers.

By the way, just before I look at the games, a quick word on the new season.

You may or may not have noticed - - the new football blog, but if you haven't do have a look. We have writers covering a wide range of topics from the latest chat in South America to the lower reaches of the Football League.

And from September onwards you should see some brand new ways of keeping you up to date with live scores on match days.
