Out of the frying pan
Final proof that it is MPs and not journalists who are the biggest tossers came this morning.
A media team of Shrove Tuesday tossers was beaten by a group of Labour MPs led by Lindsay Hoyle. Far be it for me to complain about cheating but allow me to observe that each member of the MPs' relay team had their own pan rather than passing the pan as the rules required. In addition, our freshly made pancake was less aerodynamic than their mass produced, straight from the packet pancake.
Bad loser? What do you mean?!

Cripes!
Shouldn't that be "crepes"?
Nick - are you really suprised that the Labour team changed the rules on which a "win" is measured? Hasn't Gordon been doing that for most of his reports over the last few years?!!
Nice outfit Nick
I dare you to wear it on the 10 o'clock news !!!
The 91Èȱ¬ obviously arent working you hard enough Nick!!
I expect the MPs will be claiming the distance they travelled during the race on their expenses forms...
Why do I think John Prescott should have led the MPs team?
Now we know you're working for number ten - they've even sponsored your apron!
Well done Nick for taking part.
You are used to getting the MP's to jump from the pan into the fire in your interviews and commentary. However, your skills did not work today !!
So, today you were "Shrove Tuesday tossers"... Does that mean that when it isnt Shrove Tuesday you are just "tossers"? :-)
Not surprising as journalists are masters of criticism and MP's are masters of gaining position, foregone conclusion!
I really do think you are compromising your political objectivity by being so friendly with all these politicians, all the time. Is it not your role to dispassionately report such events rather than involving yourself? How could you ever report on a scandal involving Lindsay Hoyle, for example, now that she appeares to be your best buddy? The sycophancy is so nauseating, remain semi-detached and then you may regain some credibility.
I'm amazed this example of sleaze hasn't made Guido's site yet... must have been a heavy night!
I bet the MPs made the best tossers.
Which lawn were you on? from pics it looks like hacks were made to run up hill while the hachets ran down . . .
I'm deeply depressed by this. This sums up Labours attitude to the EU constitution: Ignore the legality and carry on regardless. If they can't play fair in a pancake race, what chance in a referendum?
Why were you the player chosen to be "number 10" in preference to all the others?
Nick,
Well done for taking part in this event.
You are used to getting MP's to jump out of the pan into the fire with your interviews and commentary. However, your skill obviously did not work today.
Don't sweat it Nick, Hoyle's lot are blatantly just a flash in the pan
So you lost then Nick
Where is that Jeremy Paxman when you need him?
I see you are using newly-minted Parliamentary language
"who are the biggest t*ssers"
Please - this is the 91Èȱ¬
Yes I know it's not what it once was but really
Isn't "Pancake Day" a better description? Governments shouldn't really be endorsing religious days like "Shrove Tuesday" should they?
We Love You Nick!
Keep up The Good Work
Sexi Outfit Lol
Nice to see the dignity of the journalistic profession being upheld! Nice pinny ^-^
oh it doesn't matter to me whether you win or lose at pancake tossing Nick, you're still my hero for the incredibly courageous pair of questions you asked Bush back in the Autumn of '06
Evidently the media team failed to field the correct team of Tossers. Maybe they were still in the pub trying to get to the bottom of the story.
Goodness me Nick I think I might get myself a job at the beeb- alps one week then back to westminster to have a pancake tossing competition!!! I would have guessed the MP's would have been the biggest tossers anyway!!!!!!!!
Got to go my pancakes are ready Nick!!
Finally, photographs of people doing jobs they can probably handle. Or can they?
"Final proof that it is MPs and not journalists who are the biggest tossers came this morning."
Nick
I thought this was you journalists' working assumption anyway.
Anita, you may like to know that Linsey Hoyle is a man. Is it ok for Nick to be close in that case?
How else is he supposed to get to the real story without getting to know MP's - it's the only practical way.
