Prospects for Tuesday, 12 February

Robert Morgan is today's programme producer - here is his early email to the production team. But what do you want to see covered?
Good morning everyone,
A few decent stories around today including inflation, David Miliband's democracy speech, and internet file sharing. Do come to the meeting with ideas on how to do these stories or any others.
On the day of the Virginia primary we have the latest instalment from Culpeper by Matt Frei. It will be done on the day.
Jeremy is doing an interview this afternoon with Daniel Barenboim.
I've sorted out a Newsnight option. It's Edward Lucas' new book The New Cold War. He says that the West must wake up to the threat posed by Putin and the Kremlin. Bids in for the Russian government. Could make a good disco.

Internal test.
Only joking, what's an internal test?
I would have thought the inflation rate wouldn't be too worrying. That small rise is not a lot really, and the rate is a way off the maximum that the govt wants. OK there is inflationary pressure building, but it a very sharp rise might be averted.

Dear Mr Morgan
re Inflationary pressures -could this include the loyalty cards of the major supermarkets?
I've being noticing marked changes in the price of various foods in my local Supermarket,
low fat yoghurt, one week 14p the next 22p, decaffeinated coffee changing price by literally pounds,
I realise that supermarkets can fix prices to boost profits by the demand for various products in particular stores but it crossed my mind that they may be using their loyalty card to help them do this as well?
Would you be able to ask the major supermarkets if they use their loyalty cards to monitor the spending of their customers so they can use the information, perhaps in conjunction with computer programmes to help them squeeze more money out of customers by hiking prices of products in particular stores?
If loyalty cards are being used iin this way and against the interests of consumers would consumers be better off not using them?
best wishes
Bob

Hi, me again
you how one Political party has a concept known as auto deselection for party members, if you go against the party you automatically leave it,
well perhaps on the basis that leadership involves leading by example, any and all MPs who demonstrate they do not understand this key requisite for leading others,
ie by demanding massive pay rises etc, should at the same time deselect themselves from Parliament,
or as could happen we get together to vote them out?
perhaps someone could set up a website to list any MP who asks for such pay rises or feathers their nest in anyway, rather than concentrating on what they should be doing in Parlimanent?
anyone up for it?
best wishes
Bob
