Looks like Jeff's album "The Mirror" isn't going to be seeing a release until 2008 but why? According to the official Murder Inc website it's due to "...sample clearance issues" (he's tried to sample The Beatles who notoriously are hard to clear samples through - only the Wu Tang Clan have managed to get something cleared EVER!) but Ja very candidly says it's due to different reasons:
"I was going to put the album out November 13 but I decided to wait," Ja told SOHH. "The new year is fresh. It's only a couple of months away. So, since everything is fresh and new, what I'm doing, I felt, I'ma let it linger. Plus, [there's] a lot of traffic right now. It's that fourth quarter traffic, you know what I mean? It's gonna be real heavy out there so I'ma let all the heavy heavys do their thing and @#!* and I'ma kick it off real fresh in the new year and splash. That's how I'm feeling right now with the project."

I think this is a really good move by Ja Rule - let's be honest, are you going to buy a Jay-Z or Ja Rule album right now? Even with this clever advertising campaign...

Make sure you check out my show on 1Xtra this past Friday to hear a very special Black History Month world premiere. Bashy has remixed his big tune 'Black Boys' and invited a few friends: Swiss, J2K, No Bizzi, Ty, Akala, Wretch 32, Big Narstie, JaJa (PDC), Tinee Tempah, Bigz, Sincere, Mike GLC, Durrty Goodz, Scorcher, Alaye, Styla, Chipmunk, Ghetto & Ms Dynamite. Major remix right? You know where to go if you want to hear it first... Go to about 1:55:00 on the 91Èȱ¬ radio player if you want to hear it without the rest of the show (although why would you?!!!)
Shout outs to all the Jamaican and Virgin Islands crew - Pressure Buss Pipe has hit the internet with his video for the anthem Love And Affection but this is definitely a case of wicked tune, shame about the video. Please can one of the video making companies responsible for the "nice video, shame about the song" videos on channel U relocate to JA please?
For the HipHop Awards, BET arranges a of some of the hot artists around at that time. This year round, one of the cyphers featured Wyclef, Twista, Lil Mama & our own Dizzee Rascal. Wyclef spits hot fire (Dylan would be really proud - Chappelle's show reference!!) but maybe I'm biased but Dizzee bodies this - it's the 'Big Beat' beat so why would I expect any less!!
What do you think? While you think about it check out 1Xtra's BET Awards coverage - Zena was sent to Atlanta and covered the event for the 1Xtra Breakfast Show.

DJ Hazard and Distorted Minds future D&B classic "Mr Happy" got the Jam Hot treatment this week. Check out thursday's show, I caught up with DJ Hazard on the phone about the story behind this track and what's next on the horizon for Hazard. There'll be a new Jam Hot next week so make sure you check me Monday from 7pm.
Every week on the show we have a specialist choice - I ask my fellow 1Xtra DJ's what's big in their world and put us up on some new music.
Week 1 - DJ Cameo put us up on Chipmunk & the track "I Am Chipmunk". Chipmunk is white hot right now - check his and check this:
Week 2 - Ronnie Herel put us up on what's become one of the most requested tracks on my show - Young Nate and "Mixed Messages". Produced by Soundbwoy Entertainment, check out his and here's Soundbwoy talking about the story behind the track:
Week 3 - DJ Semtex picked a very hot record right now - Boy Better Know's own Skepta featuring one of Manchester's finest, Trigga, on "In A Corner". If you didn't know, now . The story behind the tune is pretty interesting:
Week 4 - 1Xtra D&B Don Gargan Bailey selected Break & Silent Witness' "Kick Back" and we caught up with Break to let us know his history and the story behind the hook up with :
Week 5 - Give tanx Robbo Ranx blessed us with his tip for the future - Munga Honerable. Part of the Don Corleon/Capleton David House camp, Munga has made some waves and Robbo thinks he's gonna be one to keep your eye on for the future when it comes to Reggae Dancehall. Check his and check out "Wine Pon It" here:
Don't forget to check out the show every weekday from 7-10pm for more new artists you may not have heard of yet!
This week - Pyrelli's "Can't Be Asked" got the Jam Hot treatment on my show:
I spoke to Pyrelli on my show on Friday (click here to listen again) Also click the pic for Pyrelli's myspace and more information on the single and forthcoming album "Vitamin A"
So I'm not the biggest fan of this version of the record - it's very pop which sometimes isn't bad (I find some good pop music is like an aural sorbet - very good to cleanse the palate in between the other more substantial musical courses) but I had to post this video. The first solo video from our Craig in a good few years:
Wow. The 90's called - they want their video back. In fact, there's one video in particular that bares a very striking resemblance:
Don't get it twisted, I've heard a lot of the album and the album is definitely sounding VERY VERY tight. Even the Dark Star remix of Hot Stuff is pretty big with its sort of 'This Is Why I'm Hot' meets 'Ayo Technology' kind of beat. "She's On Fire" which has been rinsed on my show is definitely huge but the Hot Stuff video just doesn't hit at all. I was waiting for Craig to come on in some Hammer pants with a flat top...
If you were listening to the show tonight, you will have heard me refer to my new trainers that I'm overly loving at the moment. Small feeted people, you don't know how hard it is to find decent trainers in a size 13! But I'm now the proud owner of these:
