Re Sara Nathan's on the correct pronunciation of 2010, on a tangential issue I have complained to the 91Èȱ¬ already on the pronunciation of twenty as twennie. It now becomes even more relevant with the widespread use of the "twenty-xxxx" format. I should like to emphasise that I have no issue about preserving local dialects and mannerisms in speech during appropriate entertainment programmes. The important thing is that there should be a core of programmes having regular pronunciation: programmes such as the news, weather forecast, reports from the stock market and the presenter in programmes that includes regional accents. Programmes depicting historical characters may announce that the characters may use the accents and mannerisms of their day. "Twennee" should not be allowed to creep unnoticed into the English language.

Re: "", I am the only person who thinks the last sentence of this article is worthy of "quote of the year"? Is it too late to submit a quote for "quote of the year"?
