It's all very boring. These bright sparks imagine they can make a difference. The true position is that none of them really control anything. The main ministry's of state are the Treasury, Foreign and 91Èȱ¬ offices. The permanent staff produce the options on which the politicians are asked to decide. It has to be that way otherwise nothing would get done. So even if there is a Hung parliament it will make no difference. The Downing Street bandwagon will role on with the support of the main Ministries and our newly elected representatives will imagine they are in control. If they were why do they continue to adhere to the spending targets of the previous administration.
I hope to see a much more independant parliament next time without the constant threats from the Whips. Our MP's should be allowed to vote as they see fit. I also hope our local MP's will listen to the views of their electorate and vote accordingly.
Meanwhile Brown, Cameron & Clegg continue their talent contest but unfortunately Simon Cowell is nowhere to be seen.

Roll back to before the "Maastricht Treaty" was passed ( that was done without us having a say). We did not have all these constraints of EU Law but we could still trade with them exactly the same.
Brown is starting to cosy up with Cleggy on Europe, he's running scared.
Cameron knows how to deal with Europe without us losing trade.
It's time we told the wasters in Europe who spend our money while we get nothing back ( Fishing Rights, the common agriculture policy etc).
Brown just wants the status quo (as usual).
Cleggy wants his ride on the EU Gravy Train.
I'd like some change, we need to stand up and tell Europe that we are an island, we know how to run our island and we have done it successfully for hundreds of years.

Think that Cameron has started stronger this time.

Cameron is hopeless on Europe, and mouths cliches on military affairs. Apparently he went for a run earlier with someone who... Smacks of "last week I spoke to a 40-year-old sailor who'd been in the navy 30 years..."

Alex, The Bath time joke got a laugh, which is more than can be said for some of the failed Cameron attempts.

Cameron is looking into the camera this week - obviously taken advice. He just looks much assured this week.

Cameron is rapidly digging his own grave. He looks enfeebled and unconvincing. Clegg is efusive and seemingly confident but a bit vacuous. Brown is the same as ever with that awful tongue in his cheek when he speaks. But then again he can finish last by a mile and still win the election with our utterly ludicrous and outdated electoral system. They rattle on about change but the only we can achieve that is to reform our electoral system. End of debate.

Better showing by Cameron so far, Gordon making a mess of things - not sure whether to "agree with Nick" or not, Clegg not making as much of an impact as last week.

The debate is being better chaired, more debate between the three and less interruption from the chair.

Wish sky would keep the cameras on the leaders. Overall the angles & panning is amateur.

Point of note.......my Dad went to fight in the Falklands (under a tory government, in 1982) wearing SUMMER kit, to do battle in the middle of the southern winter. Oh, he had a winter poncho and a few pairs of arctic socks.

At least Cameron has talked about the 3rd runway and high speed rail networks - so he is coming up with real practical solutions.

Why does Mr Cameron believe we are "punching above our weight"? We are a major economy so have a major role on the world stage, for shame Mr Cameron, slip up?

On energy:

One of the reasons we travel so much is that we live in a society where both partners have to work, where job security is poor, where mobility is poor, so the chances are that at least one partner if not both will have to commute long distances to work.

Also regional public transport is poor.

On home efficiency:

Carrot not stick please! I feel that these politicians love stick (taxes) because it gets them more money rather than that it does any good.

Gordon Brown seems to be beating around the bush, Nick Clegg, as in the first debate, is better equipped and has more wisdom than the other two.

Brown has toned down the 'excessive' smiling, and sounds more confident. Cameron is more of the same (as last time), Clegg seems well briefed.

After 30 minutes this has been a much better Cameron performance. He appears to be confident; grasp of detail and not being pushed about. After the first 2 questions on Europe and Military operations I have it:

I find Gordon Brown aggressive tonight. David Cameron sounds frustrated. For me Nick Clegg remains a threat to the other two again this week.

There are two lightweights (one with a more personable camera personna) and Gordon Brown, who is demonstrating a depth and breadth of understanding and experience with regard to both the big picture and the fine detail. I'd recommend everyone to read the excellent 91Èȱ¬ Manifesto comparison page to see which party has the most considered and relevant approach to Britain's future.

climate change is not a British problem, it is global and requires cooperation of countries.

For all his presentation faults I feel Brown is doing the best purely on substance. Cameron has not got going with his stance on Europe and Cleggs policy ideas on nuclear make him far too vulnerable to ridicule. What is the Pope question all about ??? Come on

I've just given up watching Sky News. The scrolling clutter on the screen is too distracting. I'll watch it later when I can actually see what's going on and half the screen isn't taken up with junk. Why not throw in some ad breaks to completely ruin the experience?

DC doesn't agree with the Pope's stance on homosexuality. It is a pity that's not a unanimous view of the Tory party.

Nick Clegg needs to stand on his own two feet and come up with some beliefs that weren't given to him by people who are more experienced to run the government. It's boring me that both times he has been on tv he sounds like a broken record.

Brown will lose but still win at the election because our electoral system is unfair and outdated. It leaves 60% of the electorate unrepresented. Sure we have our own MP but if one party is in majority then the whip system guarantees that all their legislation is passed even if favoured by a minority. It makes this country a hollow democracy. There may be a debate here but no room for debate in the House as the Whips will stop it.

Restoring faith... possibly a gift for Clegg? The others might have trouble with this.

If a certain Mrs T had not rid the country of a major part of our manufacturing base we would still have something to fall back on. Add to this the Conservatives removing regulation of finance/banking The sad fact is that Labour (apart from re-introducing regulation via the FSA, however useless) have not helped. Also, British students funded to go to university = a better Britain. We should bring this back for the long-term welfare on the country. Finally I agree with Brown on nuclear energy. Fossil fuels cause more damage, to humans, as well as the environment, than nuclear fuel ever will. We need to move forward, not looking at the next four/five years in power.

Brown is cosying up to Clegg again with just one red herring when he invited Clegg to "get real" - sorry Gordon, not falling for that one my son. As someone else said on here, "get your coat and go for a walk".
Cameron is getting the better of Clegg who at the halfway stage is not very convincing and particularly lacking in detail.
