Onto Tatton

Joe SwiftThings don't seem to be any quieter for me at the moment. I've been zooming between Hampton Court, the allotment and am off up to Tatton Park next week and Greenacre the week after. I'm really looking forward to going to Greenacre as I haven't been there for a while and want to see what's changed and how the planting areas have filled out.

Hampton was a really excellent show, and one of the best shows which I've ever been to. It's a huge site, which means by the end of the week, your legs are well and truly aching. One day simply isn't enough to see everything at a leisurely pace, especially if you like to find out about the different layers of interest.

I actually thought the large show gardens were the least interesting part of the show but it didn't matter as the rest of the show offered so much; My highlights were the energy sustainable area, Henry the VIII's Wives Gardens, Balcony Gardens, Small Gardens, Sustainable Gardens, the Growing Taste Marquee, the gardens and cooking demos, the Floral Marquee, a Taste of Fiji.......oh I could go on and on. It's a really great day out and everyone I saw had a great time.

I hope the same goes for Tatton as it's the last RHS show of the year. They've all been a huge success this year, and I've been aware that everyone's has had some positive comments to contribute and that's saying something. Maybe during tough times gardening is what we all feel comfortable with and know we can get some simple and frugal pleasures from?

Well, it's only a theory but it makes sense to me and long may it continue!
