When he is not behind the microphone analysing for 91Èȱ¬ 5 Live, can usually be found popping in and out of hospitality - but just what is he up to?

Well, F1's pacesetting team say he is not just there for the bottomless biscuit barrel and have confirmed the former Super Aguri driver's position with them.

and are leading the team nicely with their one-two at the top of the drivers' standings but Brawn are yet to announce an official reserve driver.

Davidson, who began his career at BAR - which morphed into Honda before being renamed Brawn in March - says he would be interested in working even more closely with the team.

"I hope there will be more come," said the 30-year-old. "I've always had close links with them, working in some shape or form.

"After Super Aguri folded last May, I went back to Honda, helping with their driver simulator and sharing my experience.

"I hope it can continue, but I would like to get back in the hot seat one day."

With a host of new teams interested in joining the grid in 2010, Davidson isn't ruling out putting himself in the frame for a race seat.

"The more teams the better," he added. "There are too many good drivers who deserve to be competing at the highest level."

For now, Davidson will make a return to competitive racing in next month's prestigious .

The Brit will drive one of three Lola MP1 Aston Martins for the hotly tipped team.

Davidson will test his mettle against Toro Rosso's , who is racing for Peugeot.

"It'll be good to take the fight to him," said Davidson.

"As professional drivers we haven't got many opportunities but this is a real chance to show your skills behind the wheel in a competitive race.

"I'm really looking forward to it but it will be a real challenge to take on the diesel cars of Peugeot and Audi.

"I think our Aston Martin will definitely be the fastest petrol car and I'm keen to find out how quick the car really is."

Davidson will get the chance to find out when he tests the Aston Martin at Monza on Monday.
