It's a conspiracy!

Dear Web Friends,

It's my turn to blogographise my life today with the help of my trusty computer, so this is me literally writing stuff to you, about me from my home where I live.

Today I'm mainly feeling rubbish, as a result of contracting a particularly nasty strain of which has been bandied around the team after being introduced to the group by Carrie who no doubt got it from boys. I don't want to be one of those people who goes on and on about being ill, even though this particular case is highly debilitating and makes doing even the most mundane of tasks very difficult.

About an hour ago I went for a little walk just to try and get out of the house. I was so bored of sitting around the house feeling weak and sick, that I went to the shop to buy some soup and some cold and flu remedy to try and get this thing out of the way so that it doesn't take over my life.

While browsing through the array of different remedies on offer to the modern day sickness sufferer, it dawned on me that perhaps we are all the victims of a conspiracy by doctors, pharmaceuticalists and other people who understand disease and medicines better than than us. I'm sure that modern science could provide a cure for influenza (which is what I've got) however there is clearly a very lucrative market for remedies, and so maybe they want us all to stay sick so that they can sell us more generic lemony sipping powder sachets and other associated paraphenalia. Perhaps they could commission a investigation into the murky world of illness and uncover some shocking findings into this possible area of concern?

In the meantime though, I just want to take some more medicine and prepare myself mentally for my trip to Peterborough tonight to watch take on Peterborough in the Carling Cup. I'm going to make sure I take some warm clothes, cos I don't want to be making my condition any worse. I just want to get this whole thing out of the way and move on, rather than go on and on about being ill.

I'll give you another update soon in my blogography when I'll hopefully be feeling a bit better.

Until then, wish me well and I'll speak to you all very soon

Kind Thoughts
Dave.

Ah, conspiracy theories.

Here's some food for thought. Right now drug companies have to share the flu remedy market. However, if one company came out with a cure it would get ALL the market, which I'm sure is worth more than anyone's share.

I agree about the "keeping us ill to make money" comment....I think its the same for all things...take light bulbs for instance.... You cant tell me that they havent already invented a light bulb that never fails! Think of how much money would be saved if you only ever had to buy one bulb for each room in your house!

A remedy I have been told that never fails, though I have never tried it.

Take one sleeping bag and mix it with one normal sized bottle of cheap whiskey (the cheaper the better)

Get in the sleeping bag, drink the whiskey, pass out, sleep and sweat it off - easy!

Granted the hangover would be a bugger after.

Best Wishes on your trip to Petersbourough. Also, getting a disease just from being kissed by Carrie? Men and women kiss each other here in Miami as a sign of affection and they don't get sick. Cheers to you and a kiss for Carrie because of her great articles in this blog.

I very much doubt you've got influenza Dave. It's more likely to just be a bad cold.

If you read the wikipedia entry you linked to, you'd see that the flu is a very serious illness that can lead to death.

Anyway, get better soon.
